Tam Fortis is building a sealed 40 kWe microreactor the size of a household refrigerator, designed to fly in by helicopter, from a Black Hawk to a CH-53, or arrive by pickup truck.

Five years of firm power with no diesel, no water, no concrete and no on-site crew.

Meltdown-proof TRISO fuel
Intact past 1,600 C. Validated across Pele, eVinci, Kaleidos, Antares, and Valar. FCM is a future upgrade path.
Passive heritage hardware
Liquid Metal heat pipes and Be reflector from KRUSTY, rotating control drums from TOPAZ-II, sCO₂ Brayton from Sandia and the SwRI STEP grid demo.
Autonomous control for austere operations
Sentinel AI, powered by GURU. Validated physics decides consequential actions, learned models rank and prune, and symbolic rules check each action against hard physical limits under human supervision.

A compact, sealed microreactor platform designed for continuous power, long-duration operation and transportability. The system combines a small physical footprint with a five-year mission profile and a configuration designed to scale for higher power needs.

Tam Fortis is developing a compact, sealed nuclear microreactor designed to provide continuous power in remote, infrastructure-limited, and mission-critical environments.

The current design targets transport by road or air, including deployment by pickup truck or helicopter.

Potential applications include defense operations, disaster response, remote communities, critical infrastructure, mining, and other locations where reliable grid power is unavailable.

Sentinel AI is Tam Fortis’ monitoring and control system, combining physics-based modelling, forecasting, anomaly detection and verification against defined operating limits.

The platform is currently under development and validation. Commercial deployment will depend on testing, licensing, manufacturing and regulatory approval.
